PHILOSOPHY, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES OF UNION MEMORIAL PRESCHOOL
Union Memorial Preschool creates a friendly, social atmosphere where a child’s feeling of self-respect and self-confidence is developed, as well as respect and consideration for others. Our program now uses the British Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) which emphasizes individualized learning through play and exploration both indoors and outdoors. Children experience a wide range of rich learning experiences based on the goals set out in the EYFS. Each child’s progress is recorded throughout the year with regular feedback to parents.
We provide developmentally appropriate activities which revolve around our three and four-year old curriculum. We do not force academic learning. Instead, we aim to develop pre-reading, science and math skills in a relaxed and unhurried atmosphere.
Each of our classrooms is staffed with a qualified teacher, plus we have experienced teacher aides who rotate between the two classrooms.
Our program promotes social, emotional, and cognitive development. We also provide age appropriate play, discovery and learning activities.
